We are the proud grandparents of two very special young people, Michael and Merrick. Michael is

13-years old and Merrick is 10, and when they approached us about community service projects and

working with other kids to help people, we immediately asked ourselves, "How can we help them?" Michael

and Merrick began by outlining community projects that interested them: growing hair for cancer patients;

leukemia walks to raise money; animal rescue; standing up for classmates that are being bullied or that are

being teased for being different. We discussed these project with them, and when they came back to us

with their "business plan," Kare By Kids was born. We worked with them to create this web site, which

was designed to be a unique platform BY KIDS and FOR KIDS. This Kare By Kids site has been designed to

be a safe place, monitored at all times by adults, where kids can get information on bullying, being

different, caring for animals, and serious illnesses like cancer. We also plan for this site to be an interactive,

inclusive place where kids can offer suggestions, get involved in community projects, and share their
